Blog post #6

Grenada is an important place for agriculture. This island is mostly known for its spices given it the name "Spice Island", nutmeg is one of the most popular resources to be produced. Carriacou also is known for it's cotton and lime oil.Grenada has many challenges every year but, 2004 and 2005 it faced natural disasters Hurricane Emily and Ivan that made agriculture production harder to progress and places to live scarce. The future is yet to come and I think Granada is going tom have a successful one. This island is one that will keep growing in many ways.

Blog Post #5 "Revision of "Little Cog-burt" and "Cotton Candy"

The two short narrative stories were different when applying a mood. Little Cog-burt gave the reader a way of looking at many different perspectives of people in Dominica. Plantation workers were treated poorly and misused. Moira was a female that was emigrating from England and was star struck by things that were in Dominica. Cog-burt was a symbol of a young boy/man that shows the qualities of a worker in the environment that they lived in. Moira overlooked how old he could have been or if he had a condition effecting his body.  This short story shows how some people are treated by how wealthy or healthy they are and look. Moira learns not to overlook physical appearances , and judge people by their financial status.

Little Cog-burt and Cotton Candy also show's similarities were that I feel that both the workers in each story get treated badly through working for less wages, in bad conditions, and when even hurt. Moira is a character that differs from Lola in "Cotton Candy" they both go through a phase in life that challenges them. Moira moves from New England to Dominica where she visits to relocate and try to prepare for a better life for her family. She studies the island and what it has to offer, while taking a huge aspect on the people that live there. Lola tries to make her life more of a dream that will never come true in Havana, Cuba. Through all her family had suffered her mom takes control of her life as a child and she never get to share a relationship with any men she comes by. Leaving her to think about fantasies that she wishes she would be able to accomplish one day. Her mom was the blockade of her life , because her mom was controlling it gives the reader a "what if" perspective.

Blog #4 Compare and Contrast "Little Cog-burt" & "Cotton Candy"

These two short narrative stories were really different when applying a mood. Little Cog-burt gave the reader a way of looking at many different perspectives of people in Dominica. Plantation workers was a way of describing the poor on the land. The similarities was that I feel that both the workers in each story get treated badly through working for less wages, in bad conditions, and when even hurt. Moira is  a character that differs from Lola in "Cotton Candy" they both go through a phase in life that challenges them. Blog Post #3 "Tetiyette and the Devil"

“Tetiyette and the devil” was a short story recorded by Ina Cesaire and Joelle Laurent. The short tale explained “don’t judge a book by its cover” a saying stating that you shouldn’t prejudge the worth or value of something based on its outward appearance that you assumed was not up to your standards. Whoever reads this book it will well approach to people that are young adults because it shows that you can marry the wrong person and be guilty of your actions when not listening to your parents when they knew it was the wrong choice. In some experiences you could be right but in the book the mother knew that this man that Tetiyette was going to marry was the devil disguised as a handsome young man. She gave Tetiyette a pin and a Handkerchief. A pin for her to stick her husband at night when they fall asleep, and a handkerchief to use for proof of blood to be human. The handsome young man was the devil as slime oozes out of him. Her approach to her mom was a lie and she stuck herself to show her blood instead. So, as I notice you can be a fake with the best looks on earth. This short story shows the reader that not all characteristics matter. A goat and a pig were her first two options as she refused give them a chance. She chooses the devil instead and begin to be eaten later in the story upon her decision.

The author portrayed a very good image in my head as a read the story giving me the tools I would need to tell when you need to know what’s the purpose, message, and audience of a story. The statement in Tetiyette and the devil claims “If blood flows, he’s a human being, but if slime oozes out, he’s a devil.” Explained to me that you can be the best-looking human being and still not be for anybody/everybody.

I want to learn more about the Caribbean region in many ways. The islands all have differences in which they are unique. My focus will be on what sports that they play. My favorite sport is basketball. I would like too know how they watch their sports and portray their dialogue on sports during important events in the actual countries. The most recent event that we have upcoming will be the super bowl. I wonder if they are going to watch this event overseas knowing that football(futbol) is soccer to them.
