Blog #4 Compare and Contrast "Little Cog-burt" & "Cotton Candy"
These two short narrative stories were really different when applying a mood. Little Cog-burt gave the reader a way of looking at many different perspectives of people in Dominica. Plantation workers was a way of describing the poor on the land. The similarities was that I feel that both the workers in each story get treated badly through working for less wages, in bad conditions, and when even hurt. Moira is a character that differs from Lola in "Cotton Candy" they both go through a phase in life that challenges them. Moira moves from New England to Dominica where she visits to relocate and try to prepare for a better life for her family. She studies the island and what it has to offer, while taking a huge aspect on the people that live their. Lola tries to make her life more of a dream that will never come true in Havana, Cuba. Through all her family had suffered her mom takes control of her life as a child and she never gets to share a relationship with any men she comes by. Leaving her to think about fantasies that she wish she would be able to accomplish one day.
